I'm Grown: Why Age Doesn't Matter After Your Early Twenties

For the first 20+ years of our lives are defined by reaching certain milestones: Birth, Double Digits, Teen Years, Driving, R-Rated Movies, Graduation, Legal Adulthood, Voting, College/Moving out, Drinks, reduced insurance rates, and much later down the line... the ability to become President of the United States.

Why do we talk about age after people are full-grown adults?  We've become programmed to associate age to intelligence, salaries, business value, experience, beauty, and the list goes on. Of course more years on Earth means the potential for more experience, but does more experience actually mean relevant experience? Of course being born in the digital age means you use the internet for everything, but do you know how to use it effectively? Does getting older mean you are always right? No. Does being youthful mean you are more beautiful or have more potential? No.

As we get older, the difference of years starts to matter less, and what becomes more important than age is a person's desire to learn and adapt.

The next time you're asked "How old are you?", ask yourself if age matters in this situation, and then say"I'm grown."
